A desert landscape is the main motif of this 35-mm slide show. To the left of the image's frame sits a white sculpture, a witness to the shadow of the vulture hovering above. Light from just over the horizon is refracted through several mirrors. On the right is an inanimate zoetrope lying uselessly on its side, within it are six images of an hour glass. The slide show contains 160 consecutively animated images. There is a 16 second dissolve which transitions each of the images to the next. The zoetrope slowly rotates clockwise, animating the hour glass flipping over and over, shifting it's grains of sand. The work is about the concept of the aura. The inherited aura of the sculpture is removed. It is displaced and diverted into the clumsy attempt to animate time in the zoetrope, the reflected light source, and the ultimate loss of representation that occurs through the shifting images. The sculpture no longer has an aura, it is now an impotent object.
